Alfonso N. Cornish Vice President Learning and Organizational Development/Chief Learning Officer
Alfonso N. Cornish, vice president learning and organizational development/chief learning officer, has been with Norton Healthcare since March 2006. In this role, he is responsible for staff and leadership development; Norton University and its classroom and e-learning offerings; and overall organizational effectiveness.
Cornish has more than thirty years experience in administrative, training, human resource and operations management. Prior to joining Norton Healthcare, he served as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer with the Prince George’s County, Maryland government.
His community, professional and social affiliations include the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (Theta Omega Chapter); Life Member Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc; National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Louisville Branch; 100 Black Men of Louisville, Inc.; Rainbow/PUSH Coalition; Society for Human Resource Management; American Society for Training and Development, American Society for Healthcare Human Resource Administrators; Associate Member Leadership Louisville; University of Maryland and Lacrosse University’s National Alumni Associations and National Forum for Black Public Administrators.
A Cambridge, Maryland native, he holds a bachelor’s degree in social science from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in human resources management from Lacrosse University. He resides in Louisville with his wife, Wilhelmina. He has a son, Alfonso II, who resides in Madison, Wisconsin and is a lawyer.
Christy Cox Manager, Global Leadership Development GE Appliances & Lighting
In this role, Christy leads efforts to develop a global strategy and the necessary supporting processes to drive leadership training and development. Christy represents Appliances & Lighting on multiple Corporate-wide task forces to share best practices and ensure a tight linkage between Appliance and Lighting’s initiatives and broader GE efforts. She is also the focal point in working with Crotonville on executive development and other leadership development training opportunities.
After receiving her B.S in Consumer Science from Miami University, Christy worked as a consultant for six months at GE, then joined Appliances in 1985 as a Home Economist. She was then promoted to the position of Manager of the Consumer Information Testing Lab. After completing her Master’s in Human Resources Management from Webster University, Christy made a cross-functional move into Human Resources and became the Program Manager for Entry-Level Training Programs. She then assumed a role as Field Trainer in the Consumer Home Services business and was promoted into progressively more responsible roles within CHS, including leading her own P&L.
In 1996, Christy then re-joined the HR team as HR Manager, Information Technology. In 2004, Christy assumed a role as HR Manager, Marketing & Product Management. She began her current position in April of 2005.
Christy is married with two children, Claire and Carter. Her outside interests include college basketball, golf and baking.
